I've never really been a doom metal fan. Sure, I'm familiar with a few Sabbath tracks, but that band, nor the genre in general, never stuck with me.

Then a friend of mine linked me to "Tears Like Diamonds"

OK - fantasy metal, and it had me hooked. So I listened to the rest of the album, and got hooked on that too, particularly Dreamthieves.

So I dug around some more, and found a video for "Used Future", with a very SNES era Final Fantasy vibe.

And so another album added to my collection.

From what I can tell, they've moved on a bit from "pure" doom metal, but I like what I've heard, with a heavy dose of fantasy and science fiction settings straight out of 70's van art and the Heavy metal magazine. For that matter, if you needed a replacement soundtrack for the original Heavy Metal movie, you could do it entirely from music by these guys - it would fit..
