While I haven't tried Minds yet beyond simply getting an account, I wanted to point one thing about MeWe compared to G+, and other social sites in general.
MeWe has no public posting.
By this I mean that the only people who can see your posts are your contacts if you simply make a post, and the groups that you join if you make a post in one of those specific groups. No-one can search the public timeline for them. There is re-sharing.
The good news is that there are a lot of groups.
The other good news is that if you want a small private group, or if you can leverage something like twitter, you can easily collect a group of interested people much like discord, but in an interface closer to what they're used to in facebook without having to install an app/etc.
