On the Cusp - A New Year

On the Cusp - A New Year

I hope everyone's Christmas was wonderful adn well spent, and that you are facing the New Year with hope and joy. Looking back, this last year was one of transitions. First, I met my goal of "post five times a week no matter what for one year" - and decided to keep going. Posts are fewer these days but I don't believe a week has gone by without a single one, and I've got a backlog of several topics that I'm putting together something for. I'm certainly trying…

Reflections on Childhood

One of the things we do far too little of these days is let kids be kids. Yes, I know. We also simultaneously don't teach kids responsibility. They're not all that far apart though. It's actually the second part of a series. It opens with…

Personal Workouts

The Didact reflects a bit on his own personal workout [http://didactsreach.blogspot.com/2018/12/domain-query-death-by-squats.html], so I figured it was worth expanding on what I wrote in the comments. Now, don't come to me for weight loss advice. I know the theory, but haven't applied it well. That said, my weight has been stable for the last several years, and while I could afford to lose 50 lbs to get to 15% BF, that would still put me at 210-215 lbs. I started with the 5x5 "Stronglifts" va…
